Full restoration
Bare body shell after painting
The vehicle was completely disassembled before painting; not a single screw or cable remained. Two or three small rust spots were sandblasted and galvanized, and the underbody was additionally dry-ice blasted. The freshly painted bare chassis in Mauritius Blue Metallic forms the basis for the further restoration.

Routing the wiring harness in the interior
The wiring harness is a particularly complex component in these vehicles. Correct installation requires a high degree of precision; careful documentation before removal is essential to ensure that every wire is returned to its original position.

Intermediate step: Installing the carpet
With the carpet installed, the interior is already taking clear shape, a visible milestone on the way to the fully restored 8 Series.

engine compartment
The brake lines, ABS system, and master brake cylinder are installed in the engine compartment. Each component is individually inspected and professionally installed before the engine compartment is reassembled.

Installation of the newly powder-coated front axle
The front axle unit was sandblasted and powder-coated in black. When fully assembled, it creates a visual highlight in the engine compartment and underlines the high standard of refurbishment of the entire chassis.

Rear view with newly powder-coated rear axle and new Bilstein shock absorbers
The rear axle components were sandblasted and powder-coated – just like the front axle – and fitted with new Bilstein shock absorbers. The differential and trailer hitch assembly will follow in the next restoration phase.
