The automatic transmission is one of the most complex and expensive components in a vehicle. The transmission fluid, also known as ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid), plays a crucial role: it lubricates, cools, cleans, and transmits hydraulic forces. Over time, the fluid ages, loses viscosity, accumulates abrasive particles, and can damage the transmission from within.
A transmission flush (also called a transmission fluid change with flushing) not only replaces the old oil but also flushes the entire hydraulic system. This removes deposits, sludge, and metal shavings that would remain in the sump if the transmission were simply drained.
